South Africa

Sources: United Nations Statistics Division and World Bank

South Africa is the 26th most populated country in the world with 47.5 million inhabitants. The GDP per capita is below world average and the economic activity rate is not that good. Furthermore, South Africa has an extremely high unemployment rate.

The health situation in the country is also very poor, leading to a life expectancy of under 50 years. Notably, South Africa has a very high AIDS rate, while the drinking water and sanitation coverage would not be that bad. The basic education is quite good, with a school life expectancy of 13 years and a literacy rate of the youth of over 90%. However, the tertiary sector seems to be very weak.
