Slovakia, member of the
EU is a country in Central-Eastern Europe. It is quite a small
country with a population of 5.4 million inhabitants. The living
standard, measured as GDP per capita at PPP, is below world average. The
economic activity rate is at about world average, while the unemployment
rate is very high.
The life expectancy is almost 74 years, which is quite o.k. Slovakia has
an excellent drinking water and sanitation coverage and also an
excellent low HIV rate. However, the GHG emissions per capita are quite
high. The school life expectancy is above world average, while the
tertiary education enrolment rate is still far worse than the top
countries in that field.
