Malta
Sources: United Nations Statistics Division and World Bank
Malta is a member of the
European Union. It is a very small country with about 400,000
inhabitants. The standard of living is above world-average, while the
economic activity rate is very low. The unemployment rate is not that
low.
The life expectancy is quite long. Reasons for that may be the excellent
drinking water coverage and the low HIV rate. The greenhouse gas
emissions at a per capita basis are about world average. Malta's youth
have a quite long school live expectancy, while the tertiary education
enrolment ratio is very low. Furthermore, the literacy rate for adults
is also not that good.
