Latvia is a quite small country with just 2.3 million
inhabitants and joined the EU in 2004.
Although, the GDP per capita is below world average, Latvia is among the
top 100 economic powers in the world. The economic activity rate and
employment rate are all about at world average.
The life expectancy is over 70 years, however, quite below the leading
countries in that aspect. The HIV rate is quite low and also the
greenhouse gas emissions are not so high. Based on the statistics above,
the education system in Latvia is quite good. The school life expectancy
is long, the literacy rate for adults and youth is very high and also
the tertiary education enrolment ratio is quite high.
