Hungary is a middle-sized country in Central-Eastern Europe and member of the EU. It has a population of about 10 million inhabitants and the 110th largest area of all countries in the world. The size of their economy gives them a top 50 rank in the world's largest economies. The living standard (GDP per capita) is about world average, while the economic activity rate is low. The unemployment rate is not so bad.

A life expectancy of 72.6 years is quite o.k. and also the drinking water and sanitation coverage is good. Hungary has a very low HIV rate, but the GHG emissions per capita are quite high. Hungarians have a school life expectancy of 15 years, which is very good, but the tertiary education enrolment ratio is still far behind the top nations.
