Denmark, member of the EU, has about 5.5 million inhabitants and a quite small area. Despite this, the size of their economy is quite big. This is due to the very high GDP per capita, meaning that the living standard of the Danish inhabitants is very high. One reason for that may be the very high economic activity rate and also the unemployment rate is quite low.

The life expectancy is quite high in Denmark, the AIDS rate is low and the drinking water coverage is excellent. However, the emission of greenhouse gases is quite high. A school life expectancy of 17 years is very good and also a tertiary education enrolment rate of almost three quarters is quite good.
